Occupational Therapy, Art, Academia and more …

Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-changes

August30

What  a wild few weeks it has been. Two of my favorite family members off to academic adventures in Montreal and Calgary, a wedding, two wedding anniversaries (one yesterday and one this week), several new fixtures and pieces of furniture around the house, a new silk hat (for the wedding), trips to new places and the start of a new school year. I am excited for the two new university students in my family, so proud of them, and will miss them so much. This is as close as I’ll get to understanding what mothers go through when their young ones leave the nest.

A whirlpool of emotions. And a time to bring my focus back to what is constant. One of those things is my love for my family. Another is work. Another is creating in the studio. Without those anchors I’d be feeling even more windswept by all these changes than I am.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

October11

Here’s a good discussion about the value of giving thanks. I am so fortunate – my wonderful husband and family, great co-workers, students who are so excited about this profession of occupational therapy that we share, my Aurora Borealis beadmaking friends, the cosy house where I sit writing this blog entry, the sun and the autumn leaves, the piece of pumpkin pie I just had. What are you grateful about today?
